No One Left Behind - Team Half Marathon

Our newest PUBLIC race

The No One Left Behind - Team Half Marathon (13.1 miles/21km)
June 15th, 2024 7:00 AM

Utah’s ONLY Team Half Marathon for everyone! Register as a 3-person team and complete the race staying within 15 feet of each other. Starting together and finishing together, just like in recovery, we can't do it alone. We need a team!

Find your team and get registered today! This will be an out and back race on the gorgeous Spanish Fork River Trail. It is a gentle, paved trail that follows the Spanish Fork River from the Sports Complex Park to Canyon View Park. The trail travels through open farmland with horses and other farm animals, including Mule deer often seen on the trail. The trail’s surface is asphalt, cement, or wooden bridge (with railings), and typically at least 6 feet wide. The estimated grade is gentle (3% or less) and the route has a steady downhill when going west. There are panoramic views of the majestic mountains along the path following the beautiful river and through the open undeveloped area of the river bottoms.

Feel free to walk or run. This is an experience more than a race. This experience of a THREE PERSON half marathon course allows you to practice teamwork while supporting friends or family. In life, there may have been times you have felt as though you have been left behind, misjudged, misrepresented, or even mistreated.

AIIA believes that no one is too far gone, no one deserves to be left alone in the dark to struggle, and no one is ever left behind.  You are only as fast or slow as your team is; and you must remain no more than 15 feet apart for the duration of the event. No one starts alone, no one finishes alone.

The No One Left Behind course has been developed to accommodate all runners who are interested in this unique challenge with the advantage of having other teammates there to support, challenge, and inspire.

The event will consist of teams of 3 people. Each team will identify a team captain so communication and instructions in logistics will be easily communicated. Each runner will receive a course map prior to the event, a race bib, a team bracelet, an event T-shirt, and a finisher’s medal.

The racecourse will limit any potential hazards such as traffic, crossing a busy street, and preventing any potential risk of getting off course by having visual markers, signs, and indicators to ensure that runners don’t get lost.  Support vehicles will also be available for anyone that is unable to complete the half marathon.

There will be multiple aid stations that will be fully stocked with first aid supplies, hydration, and food. There are restrooms located on the west side of the Pavilion by the start line and almost halfway at Canyon View Park.

Once your team is registered for the half marathon, there will be NO CHANGES to team members.  If a team member must drop out, the switch will have to be made on the day of packet pick up.

There's no “i” in TEAM. It's an age-old motto that's both grammatically correct and relevant in this team event. The use of teamwork to bring your teammates closer together in achieving goals. And your team supporting other teams participating in this event will remind you that no one gets left behind, and no one is ever forgotten.

Questions:

Q. What if I have more than three people that want to run with me?
A. Each team will consist of three runners. If another team of three wants to run with your team of three, they may do so. So long as they follow the same rules, where each of their runners can be no less than 15 feet apart throughout the duration of the event.

Q. What if one of my teammates is unable to complete the event, will I still receive my finishers medal.
A. Yes, each individual who completes the event will receive their finisher‘s medal, the individual who drops out of a team will not be able to receive a finisher‘s medal. The team will be given a DNF.

Q. What will happen if a Course Marshal observes our team not adhering to the 15 feet apart rule?
A. After one Course Marshal warning, your team will receive a DNF. Participants may still continue the race and receive their finisher‘s medal.

Q. What if I do not have anyone to run with, may I still register?
A. Yes. There may be a potential where this is the same situation for others desiring to participate. We can assign you a team if there are other runners in this situation. Please list your average mile time so we can place you with individuals with similar speeds. There can be other exceptions granted by contacting the Race Director. Jed Jensen (jed@addicttoathlete.org)
